This is a Daf 55 'Moretti' ; it's a one-off and was ordered in 1972 by a Swiss lady who owned a regular Daf 55, but thought it was too small and wanted 4 doors. These days, it's in the DAF museum in the Netherlands (where this picture was taken).

I remember that whilst being on a Dutch organised oldtimer rally, in which I also participated, this car was discovered in a garage quite by accident by someone busy organising spares for broken down cars. While he had secured the promise that he could buy it, he innocently told participants on the rally about his exciting find, and then the guy who owns the museum went around his back and bought it without sharing anything with him. Sad, really, isn't it?

I have the name of its designer, if my info is correct, and that's what I need.
My only other photos are also of the front.  Maybe bentleybob can nip round to the museum with his camera?  Although I wouldn't blame him if he boycotts the place..

It's called the Daf 55 Moretti, so I've always asumed it was designed by Giovanni Moretti ? (although the "normal" Daf 55 was designed by Michelotti)

I'm rebuilding my house at the moment in weekends, so I haven't really got the time to look anything up ; what I told you, is what I know out of my head. If that's not the name you're looking for, you can unlock it, 'cause I have nothing else on it ...

PS. Nice to see a picture of the rear and the inside ...

I didn't know if Michelotti had a hand in designing this specific one, although he did disign the 'normal' 55 ... Maybe, maybe not, someone knows?

I came a cross the apparently real identity of this car. According to a German Moretti page it has nothing to do with  Fabbrica Moretti di Torino, but with a Swiss coachbuilder from Geneve having the same (Moretti) name.
I guess that explains it all.
