Identify this car, what powers it and when it was built - for 1 point:

Google Search by Image continues to raise its ugly head on AutoPuzzles.
For the sake of our newer members who may not be aware of past discussions on it, Google Search by Image as a means of solving puzzles is banned on this website.

AutoPuzzles is primarily a game of automotive knowledge, not of who can copy and paste the quickest.

We ask all members to remember and respect this, and retain the right to ask puzzle-solvers how they came to their answer.

Have fun!

Kieft

Yes, it's a Kieft, but that doesn't answer all the questions posed.
I'll lock it for you for 24 hours to fill in the blanks.

A coupla possibilities, but I think an 1100cc Climax is the most likely.  (He said, while crossing his fingers.)

It's neither 1100 cc nor a Climax engine!

1100cc surely?

No - 1500!
The car was recently sold at Bonhams and was so described.

Here's the story:

QUOTE
The car offered here, registered '1093 WO', is the Trouis/Hitchings entry at the 1954 24 Hours of Le Mans, which was assigned competitor number '48' and for the race was fitted with an additional headlamp on a special bracket (traces of the mount remain on the chassis). Unfortunately neither of the works Kiefts made the finish, the Trouis/Hitchings car being forced out with overheating problems after 26 laps while that of Rippon/Black completed 86 laps before retiring with a broken rear axle when lying 3rd in class. The highlights of the season were class wins at the Sebring 12 Hours (albeit against inferior opposition) and the Tourist Trophy where the Kieft was the only finisher in its class. After Le Mans this car's MG engine was re-linered and the capacity brought up to 1,467cc in order for it to participate in the 1.5-litre class.
UNQUOTE

Now, whether the car in the puzzle picture (which came from the same source and was said to be the same car despite being RHD whilst now it's LHD...) had the 1100 cc engine when it was photographed or the later 1500 cc engine I couldn't say..

And incidentally that's Cyril Kieft sitting in the driving seat of the puzzle car.

As it was 1100cc when it ran at Le Mans in 1954 it is incorrect to describe it as a " Kieft-MG 1500 Le Mans - 1954".  It would be OK to say "Kieft-MG 1500 Tourist Trophy - 1954"  as would  "Kieft-MG 1500 - 1954" or "Kieft-MG Le Mans - 1954".

OK, I'm being pedantic, but accuracy does matter.
