For 1 point - what is this car, what is it based on and when was it built?

Google Image Search continues to raise its ugly head on AutoPuzzles.
For the sake of our newer members who may not be aware of past discussions on it, Google Image Search as a means of solving puzzles is banned on this website.

AutoPuzzles is primarily a game of automotive knowledge, not of who can copy and paste the quickest.

We ask all members to remember and respect this, and retain the right to ask puzzle-solvers how they came to their answer.

Have fun!

Absolutely.
I'm sure that's what the guy had in mind when he built the puzzle car...

No, not a Maserati replica.

Jag based. Australian?

Yes, it's Jaguar-based!
Infuriatingly I can't find my source of this picture again, but there was very little information with it - just what it's based on and when it was built, not where.  So it could be Australian, yes, but I'm afraid I don't know.

Found it! It's a Paramount - Jaguar from cca 1960, Australian indeed.

Correcting myself: it was initially called LeMans Jag.

Well done!
Yes, I also just found it again myself and only logged on to change my answer to the Australian quesiton to 'yes'!

But - you still haven't fully answered the question.
Which car is it based on?

Oh, I thought Jaguar was enough. From what I could find, it was built upon a burnt Jaguar XK120 chassis.

That's right.  Jaguar was just a bit too unspecific..
It was built by Geoff Smedley on a burntout XK120 as you say and was originally called the LeMans Jaguar.
Only when it was sold to Kerry Cox did it change its name to Paramount Jaguar after he transferred the Paramount badge from his home-made Paramount Ford (with a Paramount chassis and Ford Consul engine) on to it!
Well done.

Here are more pictures of it - definitely Maserati-inspired although there's no mention of Maserati anywhere in the blurb about it!:
