What's this, from when - for 1 point?

Looked again ,possibly circa '57 , have seen other photos of this VW & also Ghia photos of other cars with same cobbled ground surface & temporary wall / hoarding behind the car ; maybe Frua had something to do with it when he was with Ghia ? Haven't come up with anything else.

That's the right year, and I know you know the car as I've seen your posts elsewhere!
But you haven't given me exactly what it is yet (it has a code, which you know and I need.)

I see the discussions about Ghia as well, but although Ghia were involved in VW prototypes around that time this doesn't look much like a 1957 Ghia design to me.  Anyway, since I didn't ask for that in my original question I don't need any proof whether it is or is not Ghia, but it would be nice to know one way or the other in case you can find any proof other than the cobbles!

Headline should be corrected to EA 97/1 as EA 97 was a different car.

Pininfarina, Ghia, Porsche and Karmann were involved in most of the VW prototypes of the 1950s/1960s, but which one of them participated here, I don't know.

I've noticed that rear lights of 97/1 prototype look like being the same of Innocenti 950 spider, so this could be a clue that bring us to Ghia factory.
