Thanks!
Sometimes I think they may be a bit tough to solve but only a handful end up in the BH.
Expertise please.....
Pros turn
Starting at the beginning, is it Austin 7-based?
Those look more like prewar Ford 8 wheels and the grille looks like a flattened Ford Prefect job so perhaps it's a Ford special.
I don't know what it was based on but I suspect it was Ford rather than Austin.
As a clue - this I believe was the forerunner of many cars of this marque.
A Buckler?
Not a Buckler.
Clue - this company made many single-seater racing cars.....
Lotus?
Cooper?
Tojeiro?
Not Lotus, Cooper or Tojeiro....
Lester?
Not Lester either
So far all of our answers have been for British firms. Are we correct in thinking this car is British?
Lola?
Yes it is British
A small clue - the single seaters the company built were mainly for the smaller capacity classes.
Pilbeam?
Okay - hold everything for the moment!
I have just found the article accompanying the photo and I have to admit I was mistaken.
The puzzle car was not the forerunner of the maker of single-seaters and sports racers.
However it shares the same marque name.
It will be enough to give me the marque name to gain the point....
Emeryson?
Chevron?
McLaren?
Not Emeryson, Chevron or McLaren.....
It's not obscure and most of you will know the make ;)
Elva?
Sorry but not Elva
Kieft?
Mallock?
Not Kieft or Mallock....
Not B.R.M. surely?
Although from a different time: Reynard?
Also too early for Van Diemen I guess?
Not BRM
The puzzle car dates from 1954.
The race car manufacturer of the same name dates from 1959 although they did produce a different type of car in the earlier 1950s.....
Confusing perhaps but the clues are there.
That rules out Connaught then(?).
You never answered Wendax's Lola question!?
Crossle?

You never answered Wendax's Lola question!?
That one slipped my notice, thanks Carnut.
It's not a Lola though....
Not Connaught or Crossle....
The make is more on a par with Reynard or Van Diemen.....
Merlyn?
Alexis?
