A few words more on that incredible car: it was the last creation of the eclectic Turin-born businessman Michele Lanza. He was rich thanks to his activity in the candle and soap industry (Mira Lanza was one of major Italian soap brands still when I was child) and an enthusiast pioneer in automotive. He was one of the founder of Fiat as well as several other minor brands while also running one by himself. The particularity of Lanza was that he (and so his brand) was not interested in production and sales: he was only interested in research and engineering, so he only made one-offs and almost never sold them.
La Bizzarra (the Extravagant) was his last car. It was based on a Fiat 509 chassis and fitted with a 1.5 l engine made by Mr. Lanza. The body was made by a very young Vittorino Viotti and was a masterpiece of futuristic styling.
