Aerodynamic by HRG Engineering, of Tolworth, Surrey. Built only 45 examples by 1945-1948.
The car is powered by a 4-cylinder, 1500cc engine.

Yes, that's correct but this car differs from the others (in the frontal aspect).
Can you explain the reason for this?
LOCKED for you.

Below is the normal HRG Aerodynamic front and a clearer view of the puzzle car -

Story:
This H.R.G. Aerodynamic was owned by Florida driver, Phil Stiles. He was raced at Watkins Glen and at Palm Beach Shores in 1950's. After this races the car was slightly banged up and the front end was due for a facelift. This is when the fenders were chopped.
This damaged car was found by Gary Ford, its current owner, in Pennsylvania in the 1970′s.
The car was recently restored. It was a star of Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance in 2012.

Wasn't this car the subject of a recent puzzle?  It seems that the search engine and I aren't on the best of terms at the moment (or at any moment, for that matter) but I'm sure I remember it here.  'Course that's using my memory...which is somewhat like using a fishnet to stop a flood.

Yes, that's the car and the reason for its modified front end.
Another point for you.

RtR - I wasn't aware that the car had been puzzled before (in this form) but I may be wrong.... :-\

Then chalk it up to my post-perfusion syndrome-ravaged memory and just put me over in the corner in a dunce cap.   ::)
