This car was surely one of many projects that Alejandro de Tomaso wanted his friend Iaccoca to purchase, first while the second was at Ford, secondly, when Iaccoca got the reins of Chrysler. Most of the car projects initiated by De Tomaso were born this way, even Deauville and Longchamp were meant to be projects sponosored by Ford.
