I know the base of this car and where it was built, but not what it's called and (exactly) who converted it.
One point if you can tell me.

The car was registered in Switzerland, that's all I know.

I think it is a (modified?) Beutler body. If you compare it with the attached photo of a Beutler 328 you can see many similarities (sideline, bonnet, windshield). It wouldn't be unusual if it was modernized, perhaps after a frontal accident, with a more up-to-date grille.

And I found a picture of another Beutler 328 that is even closer to the puzzle car (or is it even the same after a nose correction?):

The red Beutler cabriolet car is in a book about BMW specials. But there's no info whether it was modified, crashed or what else happened to that car.

Do the puzzle car and the red one have the same license plate?

No. Neither the silver nor the red one share the same number with the puzzle car.

But I agree the red car is the most similar so far. The bumpers and the light arrangement are just the same I would say.
On the other hand the site vents are much bigger and the trims are different.

According to one of my books, Beutler rebodied about 10 BMW 328. I guess they all differ in details.

That's possible, but I'd like to have a definite answer. ;)

I read my source that this is a home built car with a somewhat 'turbulent story', but I don't know the history.
Maybe it was a special bodied Beutler BMW and later modified by the guy I'm after.
I guess he is the owner and was reader of a magazine where the car was featured.

Found it!

In 1963 a certain Mr.Püntener of BMW Center Zürich sent this picture of this 328 special.
But I´m not sure if the conversion was done by or for him...
