That's a steamed Daniel Lambert pulling the carriage.  Supposedly 8 feet tall and he could run 60mph (I doubt it).  It was built by Zaddock Drederick (the spelling of his name changes with each article, even in the U.S. Patent) and Grass in 1868 at a cost of $2,000.
