Title: Solved (almost) - MJW #939 - Bugatti-Mercury Special with an RGS body
Post by: woodinsight on June 11, 2012, 01:16:01 PM
This one is a real mixture of nationalities.
I don't know the name of this car but if anyone can provide that and the history of the car there may be an extra point waiting.

Only one point though for the answer to the following -
Chassis make
Suspension make
Engine make
Body make

Four different countries involved here......

I'm going to increase the number of points for this one also.

Firstly - one point if you can name the four nationalities of the chassis, body, engine and suspension.
You have to match the correct nationality to each part to win the point.

Secondly - one point if you can name the four manufacturers involved who produced the chassis, body, engine and suspension.
Likewise you have to match the correct manufacturer to each part to win the point.

An extra point will be available if you can tell me the name of this car/who built it (I don't know).

After 103 views and only one reply, I think it's time to move this one along.....

I don't know the name of the car or builder so one point is available if you can tell me that.

I'll now provide you with the nationalities of the four main components of this car - no LOCKS for naming the manufacturers involved - the person who wins the point will be the one who completes the list of four manufacturers. I hope that's clear.

Chassis - French
Engine - American
Body - British
Suspension - Italian

I'm having a hard time thinking of a '50s or older French chassis that fits the size of this car.

How about Salmson, with a Buick engine?

Not Salmson or Buick.

The chassis used is from a well-known racing marque.
The engine is a V8 - not that many to guess now.....

Finally! You earn one point for your persistence!

Another point is still on offer if someone can tell me who built it or what it was called - I don't know but would like to find out.

I'm going to call this one solved now (points have already been awarded).
Still a point or two available if someone comes up with what it was called and who built it.
