I can't find any pictures to confirm, or deny (perhaps that is why you posted a fuzzy one), but let's try a 1924 Adler 9/30.  I think the hood looks a little short for a six, and the later 4 cyl. Favorit looks too modern.  Am I getting any closer?

OK, today let's try a: 1927 Brennabor Type R8.  Until this evening I had never even heard of a Brennabor, but I have learned that at one time Brennabor was the largest auto builder in Germany.  I have discovered a few pictures of the Type R which look very similar to the puzzle picture, and since it was made 1925-1928, and was Brennabor's largest seller, we'll give it a try.

Good guess, but it is not a Brennabor, but a lesser known car. The time span is just about right. In fact, we are talking about 1925/26.

Hmmmm, "not a Brennabor, but a lesser known car".  Until day before yesterday I had never heard of a Brennabor, which means it can't get much lesser known to me.  I guess I'll just have to determine a car brand that is unknown to those who know about a Brennabor.  OK, I was able to find a few on-line pictures of Brennabor models, but I can find absolutely no information on the following two cars, except their names, and that they were the only cars produced by their respective manufacturers, and were each only made 1925/26.  Because I have no idea what they look like, I'll guess that the mystery car is a: 1925/26 Seidel-Arop 8/25PS.  If this is incorrect, how about a: 1925/26 Sablatnig-Beuchelt 6/30PS?  These are about as obscure as I can come up with.

It is not the Seidel-Arop, neither is it the Sablatnig-Beuchelt. The manufacturer of the puzzle car was a rather big company, but automobile manufacturing wasn't their main business.

Here's another picture of the puzzle car. It is available online in a much better quality, but with tell-tale watermarks.

Let's try this.  The German Wikipedia states (translation): "The German industrial Werke AG was a German manufacturer of locomotives, rail cars, motorcycles and automobiles. She was based in Berlin-Spandau."  It appears that they made automobiles only for a short time, around the time period appropriate to the puzzle car, and marketed them under the name D-Wagen.  So I'll make another try, and call the puzzle car a: 1925/26 D-Wagen 5/25-PS by Deutsche Industriewerke.
