Looks related to the Firearrow. Reminds me of a kid sticking his head out the window going down the highway!

There exists only the slimmest and most tenuous of connections to the Fire Arrow. And that connection wouldn't form until some decades after this car was constructed.

Does that mean it isn't the same designer?

Is it British?  I'm inclined to think so due to the MGA, TR6 and Mk2 in the background.

Did Joe Bortz ever own it?

The chassis is British, the drivetrain is not.

Nash-Healey perhaps, although the headlamps are more like the Alvis-healey

There seems to be at least in the swage line, a resemblance to the Austin Metropolitan Nash. Am I even warm?

Hi, that should be a Standard with a BMW engine.
It seems to be build on a standard chassis and the engine is a bmw 6 cylinder block.
It has 3 SU carburettors and seems to have english dashboard equipment.
It was probably build in england in 1949 (although it has lefthand drive) and was registered in holland in 1956.

I realize only now that I had the pic of the car from the beginning! It's in fact a  BMW Barchetta Special by Zwakman, built in 1948 on a standard chassis.

I cannot think of a Standard chassis built in or before 1949 that was good enough to justify spending all that time and money on.
Presumably it was a modest BMW engine rather than a 328, as the bonnet line hasn't the height for the downdraught carbs.
