It's a submarine/submersible car built in 1935.  Not sure of the name or why exactly, other than just because...

This is all I could find on it:

"A submarine motor car, which can travel both on land and underwater and is equipped with a 4 hp engine and steel fins on both sides. (Photo by Horace Abrahams/Fox Photos/Getty Images). 1st December 1937"

That's what I have, as well. Point for you.

Tuckeroo: Can you PM me something that validates the 1935 claim? If so, a point is yours.

I think you can delete the "Photo of" in the headline.  ;)

My thinking was this: It may indeed be a 1935 car, per Tuckeroo's post. In other words, the photo caption (which RtR also found) is ambiguous - could be the car was built in '37, or it could be the date of the photo.

If Tuckeroo is right, I can change it to just " 4HP Submarine Car, 1935".

I was waiting for this...I have it as a 1936 Amphibian Car built by Mr. Andrè in France.
It can be '35 as well but not '37 because I found an article in a '36 magazine. Another source reports that was made in '36 and there were 6 of them.
