This is more of a...well, something less than a completely serious answer, but Riley (US speed parts manufacturer) made an SOHC V8 back in the 30s.  It'd be ironic if the base car platform was a British Riley with a US Riley motor: a Riley-Riley.   ::)

This is called the 1929 Royce-Hispano Aero-Engined Special. The engine is a Hispano, but I think it may be earlier than 1929, maybe more WW1 era? the chassis would be a Rolls Royce.

That's it, well done!

The car is hardly even 10 years old - 1929 is the date of the Rolls-Royce chassis used to build it. The builder's (and owner's, I guess) name is Paul Gregory, body done by Keith Roach of Auto Union replicas fame. Paul has posted this car himself at another forum that I am a member of.

I agree with you there.
Although the car is what could be termed a mongrel, the lines and the detail are beautifully executed.
In other words, it looks right.......

It was inspired by the lines of Andre Dubonnet's Tulip Wood Torpedo Hispano-Suiza, so no wonder :)
