For 1 point, tell us the following things about this car. It looks like another of our long-unsolved puzzles, and I found it while searching for that car. Perhaps you did, too?

Only a complete answer will earn a point!

Identify the the builder, and the place of origin

I don't know the base car, so there is no use asking me about that.

If you haven't registered yet, you need to do so in order to reply.  You can do so by clicking here.

The grille is Ford Consul and the car seems to be the right size to be made from one.

I'll guess this is in Scandinavia somewhere?

I expect this answer will give it away, but here goes.  ;)

The location is ruled by a Scandinavian country, but is geographically not located in the Scandinavian region.

Yes, unfortunately your clue was a bit too good. Once I narrowed the search down to areas of the globe that might qualify, I quickly arrived at the Faroe Islands, and a little further quick searching turned up the car in question. It is Almar Nordhaug's Dream Car, which he apparently built while working at a barrel company in Tórshavn on the Faroe Island. He moved back to Norway in 1957, and brought the car with him. A right neat bit of work in such a remote location!

Sorry I did not see this puzzle!
The car was just featured in our local paper. As the story goes, it was built on a Vauxhall Cresta. Almar Nordhaug brought the car with him to Norway, and used it some years. It was sold, and one local guy here bought it. He kept it and did some work on it, but the car was later sold to a furniture company in Oslo, which wanted it for display and marketing. Noe clues for the car after that.

It was a reference to this car's resemblance to some other custom cars (see initial post in this thread) that have been recent puzzles here:

Plus one other that I can't put my finger on at the moment.

"The Almar Nordhaug Dream Car is a home made car built by Almar Nordhaug of Nesset, Norway in the 1950s. Nordhaug built the car while working at a barrel factory in Tórshavn on the Faroe Islands. Colleagues from the barrel factory helped Nordhaug build the car. The overall design on Almar's car is very similar to the 1954 Ford FX-Atmos (See the 4th photo) concept car, maybe it served as inspiration for the build. The futuristic build was based on a Vauxhall Cresta chassis, engine and drivetrain. The body was handmade, and the roof was taken from an airplane. Once completed, Almar's car was the first car on the Faroe Islands to have a cassette player and four loudspeakers. When Nordhaug moved back to Norway in 1957, he brought the car with him, and continued to drive it in Norway for some years. Almar's car gained a lot of attention everywhere it went on the Faroe Island and in Norway, and it became known as the "airplane"."
