Here's a nice, exclusive group puzzle for the Pros and Feature Writers. In this grouping you will find visions of transportation
that range from near-term "what if" styling concepts, to the long-term visionary musings of artists, designers and engineers.
To earn a point for identifying any of these, you'll need to answer with at least two of the following listed pieces of information:

The name of the person who painted, drew or crafted the future vision.
The publication name and date in which the future vision was presented.
The specific attributes ascribed to the future vision (such as "concept for an atomic-powered pogo stick").
The event or year the future vision either represented or was presented to the public.

"A" Some Dreams, F.O.B. Detroit : automotive engineers foresee radical changes, some of which may be only a few years off. Article or illustration by Devon Francis. The New York Times Magazine, October 25, 1959. About the same idea as "B", but here the highway and the car are radio equipped.

"B" Captioned: General Motors "Auto-control" allows automobile to follow electronic cable buried in the highway.

"D" = Early 1940s Milwaukee Machine Tools ad proclaiming that air-conditioning will be available for automobiles after the war.

K - Flying Carpet Car - "The concept (already proved) comes from scientist Andrew Kucher, vice-president of engineering at one of our major motor companies. His people are studying how to maintain stability. Special highway engineering is one way. Another is skillful design, evidenced already in experimental ideas from the staff of motor stylist George W. Walker". The Chicago Tribune 1958

I don't doubt Paul's identification, but it must have been published much prior to 1979, in some magazine where SIA picked it up later.

I don't doubt Paul's identification, but it must have been published much prior to 1979, in some magazine where SIA picked it up later.

You are correct. Charipar presented this prediction for the 1980 model year in a paper for the Society of Automotive Engineers 1959 World Congress.
