When looking for this  :taz: Diesel VW Beetle, I came across an old xerox about this one. It was mentioned in  a magazine in 1960. The picture was taken in front of the Kiel town hall by Karl-Günther Hinsch, but I don't think he was the builder.

I do not know the constructors name. I only know 1960 and the name of the car.

So, I give you all another view and you give me the right name:

Are you sure about the name? The original letter to the editor in 1960 read:
Quote
That sounds to me as if the torpedos were just an ironic remark of the author.

Sounds to me more like one of Paul Simsa's unknown self-built oddities...

Hm, I´m not sure if we really had the same source.
Unfortunately I haven´t scanned the text with the picture back in the late 1990...

But as I´ve said before, I´d really like to know more about it.

Grobmotorix,

It's design is based on Alex Tremulis' Ford "LaGalaxie" from 1958.  It made it out to at least several auto shows, probably one in Germany at some point.  Tremulis kept a long relationship with several Daimler designers and management.  The Daimler crew came over to talk business with Ford around 1956 and Tremulis, then head of Advanced Styling, was the only one to treat their guests with respect, and he stayed in touch for many, many years.  I'll see if I can dig up the names of his contacts.  Who knows, it may lead to the answers for this one...
