The basepiece appears to be vertically-moveable, so perhaps this is a valve of sorts, which opens (as shown) when a given tyre pressure is reached - maybe there's a whistle or small horn inside the bell-shaped section which accompanies the setting being reached.

Talk about clutching at straws!  ;D ;D

That's the one. One point for you. This is a Cowey Patent Tyre Alarm, I think the idea was that you had them permanently fitted to your tyre valve, and when it got too low, you'd here the bell ring.

Thanks, Craig. I wish they'd bring these back. I can just see the latest BMW with four of these fitted, it'd look great :lmao:. Not to mention how the car would hop from lane to lane at speed, each wheel being somewhat unbalanced by the Cowey Patent Tyre Alarm.
