1908 developed 1909 Mercedes 150HP also referred to as the 'Brooklands' (in view of its success there)? (If this were pictured in the USA,(which it isn't) this would include Ralph de Palma, who referred to it by his own nickname: the 'Gray Ghost.' (American spelling)

99.9 percent there, but there is one key element to find. 1908 Mercedes 150hp is correct, &...... This actual car used to be in Australia, the HP is the big clue. Still LOCKED for you. There is a bit of incorrect information on the web about this car (a lot actually).

This is the 1908 18 litre 150HP Mercedes built to compete at the Semmering Hillclimb. Apparently called 'Semmering'. It was a one off similar in design to the smaller engined GP Mercedes of the same year. Used by Lebbeus Hordern. Imported into the USA from Australia in the 1950's. See article in 'Early motor in Australasia', june 2012?

Yep, that's the one. It was built for and won the Semmering Hillclimb, in 1908-09, I think. It's often referred to as a GP car, but that's incorrect. And you're right, I got the photo from the June issue of earlymotor. Well done, 1 point for you.
