I just do a quick edit (I use Corel Paint Shop Pro) and set the palette to monochrome. I'm not much of a fan of sepia prints. When I had some relatives visiting recently, I made prints for them of photos I'd scanned of our "ancestors" and was about to print one in 11x14 format (my preference for print size) and a cousin asked what it would look like in sepia-tone. I did a little editing of the color palette and added sepia...they all preferred a medium-high contrast monochrome. I didn't tell 'em that the sepia reminded me of a "Grob" photo.
Whenever I see sepia toning, I think of your puzzle photos.
