Well, my list of potential makes has gotten narrowed down to the point that nothing seems to be left.

Would I be correct in assuming that high-wheelers like this were not the company's main automotive product?

Subsequent products were slightly more modern in configuration and appearance. But not too modern.

I found a car made in Jonesville, Michigan.  Is it a Deal?   From Wiki: "The Deal was an automobile manufactured in Jonesville, Michigan by the Deal Motor Vehicle Company from 1905-11. The vehicle was a small four-seater motor buggy that had solid rubber tires"

I might have mentioned that one except that the answer to my question "Was the company making cars as of 1905?" was "No."

Ok, time to solve this.
From Michigan, not from Detroit (282 makers), active less than 10 years in cars and after 1905...let's start:
from Grand Rapids (29)?

I found an image of the car in question, but the information about the company doesn't meet the criteria you've listed.  The company was in business from 1905-1911, according to 2 sources and the town listed isn't Grand Rapids.

What I found was a 1905 Deal built in Jonesville, Mi.  Maybe the site I found it on is incorrect.  I don't know.

Yes, it's a Deal. My source indicates automobile construction commenced in 1908.

I'll need the model designation to close this one out.

Model G according to MotorCities National Heritage website. Also found some awesome pictures of Jonesville area real estate. Looks worth exploring by itself.
