Well this certainly looks interesting. I've got nothing so far, but shards and bits to go on. I do have a question: are we to match letter to number or letter to letter and number to number?

Either or both - mix and match

5 & 6? Sapphire and Topaz - both gem stones?

Those both sure look like a Tempo and a Merkur to me.

They do however share the same 4x108mm wheel bolt pattern!  ;D
Title: Re: A Quite Silly Puzzle
Post by: porridgehead on September 27, 2007, 06:37:21 PM
Well the rest of the world didn't get a Merkur. In GB, what was known as the Merkur here, they were the Sierra and Sapphire.

That said, if that was a European Merkur, it would be a Sierrra, not a Sapphire. So either way, I am wrong.

But if I was right, it would have been cool. So I have that going for me.
Title: Re: A Quite Silly Puzzle
Post by: porridgehead on September 27, 2007, 06:42:35 PM
Scratch that too. The Scorpio was other Merkur. So I was incorrect while I was being wrong.

I still say if I was right, it would have been cool.

Dunno about L, but I'd say there's stormy involved with Q. It's a Tornado Typhoon.

B goes with Q, I think, as B is the TIV Tornado InterceptVehicle and Q is the british Tornado car.

1 goes with 7 and perhaps with 3, as 1 is the Italdesign Marlin, 7 the AMC Marlin and 3 is a Rolls-Royce Merlin engine

C goes with P,as the shadow C is the name of the Rayton Fissore Shadow P

A goes with 8 as A is a Chevy Monte Carlo and 8 is the Skoda Popular Sport Montecarlo

I've just noticed something strange.  A to R is 18 pictures.  Then we have 1 to 17. That totals to 35 - an odd number.

So there must be one picture unmatched, or one picture matched to two others.

Any of these pictures can be paired with one or more other pictures.

I'm moving this one to solved, and will add up the points soon.

Well, #17 is the Plymouth Tornado (http://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/index.php?topic=4147.0;topicseen). So the match is #17 - B: TIV Tornado Intercept Vehicle.

Don't know what is matching the Edsel Corsair then ???
