Correct vehicle, but I thought it was a little later than 1949. I may be wrong though!

do you want to guess again, or show some proof, while I figure out what my source was for that information!

Attached is a link to an advert in The Strait Times (Singapore) dated 11 August 1949, although admittedly the example shown does look to be a different earlier design. I guess the example in your puzzle is from c1953.

I believe it does date from around 1953, yes. As far as I know the Pelican was the first British 'car' to use a GRP body but information seems quite scarce and this is the only period photo I have found.
Any additional information would be great!

Information on these machines seems to be scarce. I'll see if I have anything to add, but for now, here's a reasonable picture of a Pelican which is said to come from a 1957 brochure. This example is powered by a 600-cc JAP engine.
