The 40GT is a special project that combines the running gear of a 2005 Ford GT with the stunning good looks of a '40 convertible body made of pure copper. Although the body is pure copper, the car weighs less than the GT and in theory it should be faster to 100mph.
The body is made of pure copper 1.5 mm for the design based on the 1940 Ford Roadster. Copper plate was made in Poland, in a former factory MIG and may not come out again. Kirkham Motorsports and then shipped in the U.S. for assembly. Kirkham is a manufacturer of refined aluminum body that makes a replica of the cobra. Once the mechanical work was completed we polished the exterior of the car to a mirror like finish. The flames are a brushed satin finish. The interior is lined with an African hardwood called Bubinga and trimmed in black leather with brushed aluminum accents. The shifter and shift mechanism from the Ford GT are utilized in the custom center console.
The body hung on a stainless steel tube chassis custom wheel design hard mid engine/rear. With a fully independent double wishbone front and rear. Other features include chassis Penske Racing Shocks, Brembo 4-piston brakes, hubs the 2006 Ford GT, and Kirkham makes Billet wishbone. Wheel of the Ford GT front/19×11.5 18×9 rear with Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires.
Powertrain pure Ford GT, the GT 2006 Ford Modular engine (5.4 liter, 4 valves, compressors) and the Ford GT 6 speed transaxle.
