Reminds me of a Rytecraft Scootacar

Ah, so it has... and it doesn't even really look that much like this. Oh, well, I knew it was a long shot.

It bears a strong resemblance to a BMA Hazelcar.

No surprise, because that's exactly what it is.

Doggone it, I knew this looked familiar! The right car just didn't come to my mind.

The smaller car is indeed a Hazelcar.  It was built in Brighton UK in 1950 or 1951.  It then moved to Nova
Scotia, Canada with the owner and builder Eric Hazeldine and his family.  It was the family car in Liverpool for approximately 5 years.  It was then replaced by a larger car to accommodate the growing family.

The car is now owned by Carol (one of Eric's daughters) and Jim Dewar of Wolfville, Nova Scotia.  It is presently being restored by Chad Hiltz of Green Goblin Restorations, in Canning NS.

The picture shows how small the Hazelcar is.  Eric used to complain that he never got his money's worth in a parking spot in Halifax, NS because he used only one half a parking spot.

Jim Dewar.

Welcome to AutoPuzzles Jim.
I was interested to learn that the first Hazelcar still exists in your family.
Presumably you know the history of Hazelcar and its reincarnation as the electrically-powered BMA Hazelcar.

Thought you may be interested in the photo below (apologies for the quality but it was scanned from a very old magazine).
It shows R.E. Hazeldine in his Ford Eight-powered Hazelcar at the start of the London-Exeter Trial at Virginia Water, Surrey on 29th. December 1950.

I've created a website with all the correct information about these cars. www.hazelcar.co.uk
I have a petrol version which is in the Bentley Wildfowl and Car Museum in Sussex England.

Just come across two more views of a Hazelcar being rescued in 1979 from a barn in the Scottish village of Ceres.
