Aston Martin DB3/3, originally a standard-bodied car, but had the rear end rebuilt by Henri Chapron in 1952 after an accident involving several cars at Monaco.  Soon after it caught fire at a race at Goodwood and had to be completely rebuilt.

Later it was sold to French racing driver Michel Poberejsky who had it re-bodied by Vignale and who fitted a DB3S engine.

After another accident the body was fitted to a Ferrari 340 America for the subsequent 50 years of its life.

I don't know what happened to chassis no. 3 in the end, but the puzzle photo shows it wearing its Vignale body in the mid 1950s.

Here's another pic for good measure:

Perfect reply!
Can I just add that DB3/3 was apparently scrapped after an accident in the Bois de Boulogne in 1956 although the body (repaired) found it's way on to a Ferrari 340 America (c/n: 0196A) - see photo below
