It is not Dutch. The best two guesses thus far are Denmark and Norway. Which should make the geographical pinpointing quite easy...

Saab?  That would explain the amount of British sponsorship stickers on the car, due to their links with Triumph

I'm afraid it's a tad more obscure than Saab...

Is it Porsche engined?

Could it be the 1968 mid-engined Buick-V8-powered Reeva GT Mk III prototype?

The night was long... ;)

This one is not (closely) connected to either of those two guesses (OBC or Reeva).

But regarding the time frame, you've both nailed it..

Otto, I think I've seen this car just now, but there is no information on it (as always  ::) ). Was it related to Esso Gunnarsson, could it be called Buris?

Sorry about the delay!

As far as I know, it's not related to Esso Gunnarsson - who seems to be mainly connected to motorcycles, right?

And its name is not Buris.

Let me share a few clues: It's connected to a small-scale manufacturer of racing cars, was driven by one of the great racers of its time, and it carries a specific name that it shares with a quite common car model of today.

Ronnie Peterson?

Ronnie Peterson?

Oh, absolutely!

Edit: I might be wrong about Peterson. I think this is the car he drove - but it is also possible that he raced a later version. He was involved with the makers of the car, anyway.

His father, Bengt, was involved in building Swebe, but those were only formulae AFAIK.
Maybe a Focus then? He has planned to enter one in 1968, but I don't know whether he did or not.

P.S. @re, I have addressed my previous post to Otto, don't know why, but then I thought it was his puzzle  :-X

That's good enough to earn you two points for this ancient puzzle! It is indeed a Focus, the Focus 4, built sometime during the Sixties.

Congratulations!

And, by the way, it's no wonder you think my puzzles have been posted by other puzzlers as I'm rarely seen around here these days...

Thanks :) I'd present one of them to Allemano - he has guessed Ronnie and it was easy to find the car's name then.

I have awarded the point to him, please someone substract one from me (I'm 213 now) - I can't do it myself.

Funny... I thought it was the poster's privilege to decide what the points should be awarded for. I didn't say anything about points for the driver - and for as long as I've been here (admittedly, I haven't been here for a while now, so things may have changed...) if you're posting a guess that can lead anybody else to the answer you do so at your own "risk"...

But I'm not going to be grumpy about it. I'm happy somebody eventually solved the puzzle, anyway... :)

@re, I didn't mean that you have awarded the point in a 'wrong' way - I have just presented one of mine to Allemano after you gave them to me. I though it would be OK, as they have become 'mine' :P That was a really helpful guess from him, as I was interested in this car for quite a long time and was very happy to finally know what it was :)

Well, do with your points what you like. I can see that Allemano's guess was both good and helpful, but I still intended to give you two points.
