There is a certain similarity, but the puzzle bus has nothing to do with Erfurt.

If you follow the hint SACO gave, perhaps you may be able to recognize the coachbuilder's name. It isn't impossible.

The name "Heideperle" shown on the original pic could indicate that it's built near the Lüneburger Heide. I vaguely can spot a coachworking company starting with a "W" and maybe 5 or 6 characters.
I found a still existing truck coachbuilder called "Wille", resident in Lüneburg which is in business since 1895.
Not that likely, but could it be them?

Very well spotted. It is Wille. But after my generous hint there has to be a little challenge. I'll give you the point if you can tell me where they were located when they built this bus. Locked for you.

I was able to identify something like "Hamburg" or "Harburg" and after googling "Karosseriewerk Wille" AND "Hamburg" I've found the words I could not read: "Fleestedt" and "über".
So, Wille was located at Fleestedt über Hamburg according to Omnibusarchiv, but "Fleestadt bei Hamburg" seems to be more correct.

Fleestedt is correct. Fleestedt is now a part of Seevetal. The Wille factory existed there until a few years ago, when it was demolished to make place for some family homes. All that is left there is the old office building and a new street called "Stellmacherei" (Wheelwright workshop). From time to time one could see some interesting cars there like a Volkswagen Corrado convertible or a Bitter Type 3, since sometimes they were involved in prototype coachbuilding. "Fleestedt über Hamburg" is an old expression for the fact that mail heading for Fleestedt had to go to the Hamburg post office first.
