I'm probably wrong about this, but is this the Maybach Special in its ultimate third-generation form? If so, that's likely Stan (father of Alan) Jones at the wheel but that is a guess. I seem to remember it being converted to Chevrolet power at some point so it may have had a different name later on.

Yes, you're correct, it is the Maybach "Mk 3" and I believe it is Stan Jones at the wheel.

I've just found this photo of the engine bay.
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia
