Sears Point, now known as Sonoma Raceway?

There's so much stuff in the North Bay area that it's pretty difficult...almost as difficult as finding coachbuilders in Europe.   ;D

SACO

Not San Bruno or Point Reyes or Sears Point !
It is not a tourist place, nobody wants to go there !!!

mekubb

Are we dealing with a national park, forest or monument at all ?

SACO

Not national park, forest or monument !

S.Diego zoo?

I think you're off by about 500 miles.  'Course it's Saco's puzzle, but San Diego's a long way from the Golden Gate.

SACO

With alcatraz, we get closer to the solution !

nicanary

The vehicle was adapted from a Renault Dauphine by inmates at the Federal Prison on Alcatraz Island, to transport  the sick from the prison's hospital down to the boat dock or to the heliport. The prison closed in 1963 so the mileage on the odometer must have been pretty low.

(The above is a guess, by the way)
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia

mekubb

I think it's not Alcatraz (too small) but San Quentin prison

SACO

Yes , mekubb found the solution !

1 point fot mekubb !

My congratulations to mekubb!!

I got stuck on Alcatraz as well mainly because of this photo of a later similar vehicle.

Thanks Bill and Saco. I had thought about a prison earlier but never realized they were big enough to have their 'own' vehicle !
