This is a 6 ton "von Lienen Selbstfahrer" with a 25 HP Volkswagen engine, built in 1951 by "Fahrzeugfabrik Emil H. von Lienen GmbH", Bochum.

You are absolutely right. This truck was used for the transport of goods from the railway station to the recipients. The concept of a big truck with a small engine resembles that of the far more known Econom trucks from Berlin. What was special about this one is that the cabin turned with the front axle and that it was possible to turn the axle by 180 degrees and use this "Selbstfahrer" as a trailer, if goods had to be carried for a longer distance.
