That is the sexiest thing i've ever seen. Is it Alfa 6C based?

@re

Sure is pretty, I agree! Can't say whether the 6C was the base, though, but I don't think so. The car's face doesn't lie about its origin, so yes, it is Alfa based.

I found it for sale.

It is the 1968 ATL 2000 Sports Coupe

Built by Autotecnica del Lario of Lecco.

@re

Oh yes, it is! A well-earned point.

ALT Alfa Romeo?

Who are 'ALT'?

(Assuming you're not translating 'alt' from a German website, which would just mean 'old Alfa Romeo'!)

I saw it last year, in Maldon, and what a beauty
and it was listed as ATL Alfa Romeo Mille Millia, now sold
1957
1900 cc

ATL Alfa Romeo, Alfa Red, Red interior, Borrani wire wheels, Solex sidedraft carburettors, disc brakes, left hand drive, coachbuilt by Italian coachbuilder ATL in 1957, unique one off styling restored 3 years ago, requires final detailing.

You're well on track in that I also have it as an ATL Alfa Romeo.
However, thre are differences between the one you've pictured and described and my puzzle car, which from another source gives a somewhat different story.

I'll lock it for you to do a bit more digging (should be very easy) and come up with the story as I have it (although I have to admit there is also a third story around which is different again!!).

Below is another picture of the car you have posted, and you will see some of the differences, e.g. the shape of the rear window, the door handles, the exhausts.  Whether my puzzle picture is simply a rebuild of the original or a copy of it I'm not entirely sure.  Anycase I'd like to see the story of the car as pictured rather than of it in an earlier guise.

1968 ATL 2000 Sports Coupe
This unique 'one off' Alfa Romeo powered sports coupe was built in 1968 by Autotecnica del Lario of Lecco. Developed largely along the lines of the Alfa Romeo 2000 Prototype built by the company in 1954, the chassis consists of different diameter special steel tubing with boxed-in sections to which all of the mechanical ancillaries are attached. The stunning bodywork is in 12/10 gauge aluminium and is suspended over a steel birdcage like the patented Touring Superleggera method on the Maserati 3500GT or Aston Martin DB Series. Suspension is independent on all four wheels with coil spring shock absorbers, together with front disc and rear drum brakes and Borrani wire wheels. The engine is Alfa Romeo's classic two liter twin camshaft unit, and with the car weighing in at only 810kg this makes it a very fast sports. Reminiscent of the 3000 MM and Disco Volante coupes, the stunningly executed lines of this car are every bit as good as anything created by Alfa Romeo at the time.

That's what I was looking for as I think this is the most plausible story, so the point is yours. Don't know if it's a copy of the one made in 1957?

The third story (which is where I took the puzzle photo from actually) is that this was a car built in 1976 and completed in 1982 based around an Alfa 1900 and was said to be 'inspired' by earlier Alfas.  It was For Sale at the time at Luzzago classic car dealer and was described simply as an "Alfa Romeo 1900 Prototipo".

So whether in fact this is a third  car or whether that's an erroneous story and it's just a restoration of the 1968 car I don't know, which is why I didn't insist on that story being the one to solve it; I'm not sure I believe it! Here's a front view taken from the same source as the puzzle photo:

The ATL is 'on the road' but at present it isn't driveable or road-legal.   This ATL is currently at JD Classics in Maldon, Essex, England.
