Based on another recent correct answer, plus you being very close with this 2CV special, I can now see what you have  got as an early Christmas present PJ  ;).  I have a slightly different name for the builder, although your answer is very close so I will accept it, but to complete the puzzle do you have the model name as well?  Now locked for you.

A very interesting book indeed... ;D
I was so worried about the correct "è" that I mispelled the rest!
Robert Fèvrier built this car in 1962 starting from a wrecked Aronde.
In the book the story is told by his son, Frèdèrick, and the car was named Sophie.
The car remain extant...in pieces but alive.
I can't read the 6 pages article (that is in French) in a short amount of time...I'll post the story in a second time.
...and I'll add more pics, of course!

Well done PJ: Sophie was the name I was looking for.  There is a second volume edtion of that book due out very soon, which promises to be introduce us to a few new surprises as well!  ;D
