Solved -PJ368- 1930 Barényi Prototype by Béla Barényi
« on: January 06, 2011, 08:43:49 AM »
This one can be a tricky one.
I have a name and a date.
The name is not that obscure, the date, well, it's a date.
1 point for this and for further info (if available)

Looks like a front wheel drive vehicle with a metallic fold-away roof... Any relation with Georges Paulin, the guy who had the idea for the Peugeot Eclipse ?

Not that I'm aware of.
This design has a name and a date on it.
The name is quite known and cannot be mistaken.
This man was seriously concerned of a particular aspect of the car design and worked for different brands...not Peugeot.
...but since I can't know everything I can't be sure.

If no relation to Peugeot (with the retractable roof) is man behind it rather known because of the FWD? Since you didn't say it is not French I would be thinking of Grégoire...

Is this one from Germany?
No, Geo Ham (i.e. Georges Hamel, 1900-1972) was a French artist, doing many artwork and design for Delahaye and others.
Is the artist French?

Not French or German.
He studied detachable hardtops but in the contest of his biggest concern...he is often associated with a German maker.

That's it!
Well done Joăo... another point for you.
I don't have much more about this prototype but it's a nice design for 1930.
