According to the lettering on the hood, this car has a special kind of propulsion that doesn't use explosive materials, so it is no combustion engine underneath. Is it something unusual like compressed air?

Dammit! I should have removed all of the letters. ;D

The builder filed a patent application and had a special term for the engine he apparently did invent.
The source reports that unfortunately no technical details have survived.

He only promised that the engine produced the fuel itself at no cost. That is just a further development of the perpetuum mobile.  ;)
