Yep...this is a homebuilt VW-based car.
I can add that is based on a VW38 (!) and the nationality is quite obvious.
It's nice and I hope someone will have more info.

Same info you already post just add a nacionality sticker.
May I ask if there's Registry where to search the plate number?

Another interesting bit is that the Fiat in the background has an East German license plate. That would fit the VW 38 assumption that a prewar VW chassis was used, which was more likely to be done in East Germany than in West Germany where you would have taken a newer floorpan. And the body has a vague resemblance to the Melkus RS 1000. Probably an East German car mechanic trying to build a personal sports car. The car in the front could be a Skoda S100.

The license plate though I think shows Landkreis Burgdorf (or is it old GDR and denoting Schwerin?)

Are we talking about the Fiat license plate KT 47-35 or about a license plate on the puzzle car that cannot be seen in this thread?

Thank you. That is a West German license plate for Landkreis Burgdorf. We can forget the East German guess.

I think it looks kinda Porsche-esque.

Any case. I can only find it as Eigenbau myself on a site about the Vee Dub 38.

Was wrong! I've found it!!  Ralph Endlein auf seinen eigenen Sportwagen!
"One's own sports car which is only once found all over the world
Ralph ENDLEIN has fulfilled his dream of a sports car. Although it was already Porsche and Ferrari but these cars could afford then and now, almost no one. So it was decided Ralf himself to build his dream car. With his brothers he had been bowling his decision known in 1965 and went immediately to work.
He had started small with a model that he built out of newspaper and glue. He was a model for his ideas.
Then it went on the large model. As a Karman 1500 S Chassis with 54 hp and dual carburetors was taken. On the Chassidim, he has created with cardboard, wood slats and a lot of plaster, about 5 to 6 quintals, a rough shape of the body. In particular, the curves were very difficult because they had to be uniform on both sides of the car.
On the plaster was then a layer of putty, so that the form could be ground. A total of 150 hours he has honed by hand and balanced, until the shape was almost without any bumps before Him.
Now followed by several coats of varnish. In between, always had to be sharpened and balanced. A layer of floor wax and release agent followed. Then finally came the polyester gauze thing to get an impression.
This form was then cut into 6 pieces, these were then freed from the plaster and other radicals. Afterwards everything was reassembled and filled.
During the entire construction phase Ralph had close contact with the TÜV, so there was no decrease in the subsequent unpleasant surprise. He has learned that he needs a protection for the driver. This problem he solved with an inner bumper and the spare tire although basic was built to the front under the hood.
Should have as he stood in front of the car he is thinking about what form the doors. Ralph even more enthused by a Mercedes 300 SL with hinged doors, but the desire to drive a convertible has predominates. So he built the car in normal doors. However, the roof could be folded with the aid of rails in the rear-mounted engine room, so we had a convertible with a few simple steps.
The windows he can bend plexiglass. Alone had a door with a working side window reckon three months of construction time.
After six years of construction of the sports car was completed. Now the only thing missing was the TÜV Abnahme. Ralph Although already a lot of contact with the TÜV employees and was able to correct many things already in the run but the thing was already a full acceptance of its own.
When he was on the court of the TÜV inspection had driven like he was discouraged by some predecessors rejected because his Phonwerte were even louder than that of the other and which have not been approved.
But he was lucky, because the TÜV auditors himself was racing and had a good view. He said to Ralph: "I have to push in the values not only both eyes but not all existing corns." He probably sensed how many hours of work put into this car. All eyes had closed, the auditor also at other points. These defects were wiklich but not so serious.
But Ralph had bad luck with the light. For at the same time the Lichtauschuss of Germany met at TÜV. Who had examined the goings from quite far and was now to come to acceptance. As you can see the headlights in the pictures are very long-drawn, that Porsche was Plexiglas. Requirement was that the light cone 1.5 m in front of the car makes it impossible in the opinion of the Committee in light of the model.
Even the Benevolent auditors could now no different than the stop loss only once, as a dark garage for review was not available.
However, they are retained so that you check in the evening, once again meets the matter. No sooner said than done, about 21.00 clock is Ralph went to Hannover to pick the examiner. Together, the pair went on in the Eilenriede. But it was still not dark enough. Thus, the two drove through the area to find a dark spot. (Of course, just to check the lights)
Also, he has passed this test and so the TÜV seal nothing stood in the way, since the car was already checked two hours a day through their paces and found it good.
The car has many special permits, such as color, glow color as they are known by fire engines. But the Plexiglas and the exhaust needed a special permit.
The car has a 54 hp engine and is 22 hundredweight. If only one of 1.19 meters, but the car managed 145 km / h.
The car care throughout a stir. For a vacation in Yugoslavia the car was besieged for example, of 300 Neugirigen. Such a spektagulerer car is not only advantageous because ralfh absolutely could not drink more alcohol when he was traveling by car. He was constantly pulled over by police car in order to obtain details about the car."
