Apparently one of two official factory prototypes.
I really thought a Rookie would have got this one!

This prototype shows the racing model with small windshield and cut-out doors. Those accessories were only available at the very beginning of the production run (until the customers noticed that the 190 SL isn't a racing car at all  :D ). The other prototype had the usual doors and windshield.

Hmmmm - I wonder if that's my puzzle car, purporting to be a prototype on the 'Net?
Check out those side-lights -  they're not like the production model's..
It does look awfully similar, or maybe it's just a very accurate reproduction...
