Kurtis 500KK with body by Jim Byers,1955.
The body was made of fiberglass with plywood reinforcing by Jim Byers, an L.A. boat builder.
The car  was commissioned by Steve Salem of Los Angeles to compete in the Carrera Pan America race but was not completed in time for the 1954 race and the '55 race was cancelled. The engine is a 1954 De Soto Hemi Fire Dome V-8.

Sorry to bring one back from the dead but it seems this site is all about correct information.

This car has a supercharged 235 c.i. Chevrolet inline 6 cylinder engine in it. Check <<< link removed >>>. It's for sale there right now...

Quote
This particular car is the 51st example built and is surely one of the most unique examples, with a stunning custom one-off aluminum body by Cal Metal Shaping and unusual supercharged 235 cid Chevrolet inline-6, which was custom-built by “California Bill” Fisher. The car retains its original major components including engine, drivetrain, chassis, and body. It has known history from new, is very thoroughly documented, and has been restored to award-winning condition.

I suspect you are thinking of a different car...

Avalanche,

On behalf of the AutoPuzzles crew, please accept our apology for our confusing Solved Puzzles thread header. While the rules book said "no links in the puzzle threads" the header said "links are welcome here". I've fixed the header.

To any other AutoPuzzles member who were similarly misdirected by the header, we apologize as well.
