The Sixty~Special name was used for decades. What do you mean exactly?

On a side note, this looks like an early attempt at blending in the fat fenders into the body ("fade-a-ways")when all production cars still had the stick-y out-y fenders.
This car prolly dates somewhere around '42 - '45.
Just a feeling I get mostly cuzza the font glass.

Found it.
Or at least SOME info.
A clay buck was finished in '46, and a drivable prototype car (the car in question) closely resembling it was built and tested.
What I found said it was a concept car built for a post WWII sedan, possibly a new 60 Special.
No exact year in given for the concept car's completion. Guess I'll have to go with '46.

The back end closely resembles a '57 Eldorado without the fins, but strangley drawings dating back to 1944 already show the P-38 inspired fins that first appeared in production in 1948.

OK, I think both of you have been viewing the same website and I know it too (it was the link f1fan posted)

I assumed f1fan meant it was a proposal for the original 60 Special VVV, but perhaps he didn't mean that.  Although it does say on that site that it was 'perhaps' a proposal for a new 60 Special, I don't know if Cadillac actually said so at the time or if it was just one of many proposals for a new post-war car, which is what I had it as.

However, f1fan has really got to the bottom of it and it is a 1946 clay model for a new post-war Cadillac, so it's his point and Solved!  Well done!

Sorry Vincent, you have the same but not first, so you remain on 19 points which means you can still answer Rookie puzzles!  Not for long though, I don't think..

Hold on there....

The clay (see below) has, like other clay cars, windows that are not transparent. The puzzle pic is clearly (pun intended) the built-up prototype model.

Maybe it wasn't clay?
I think it was only a scale model though..

You are absolutely right Otto and this is a full-size prototype for a Post WW2 new Cadillac sedan. 
They were searching for a new direction but didn't follow this one..!

Yes, I appreciate that.  The link that f1fan posted said it all as well so he obviously knew the answer, although he should of course have written it himself like you did!  However, since he is new here I gave him the benefit of the doubt and gave him the point for posting the correct answer first.

I should have read it properly too then I would not have said what I did about it being only a model..

I'm sure you'll be getting many, many more well-deserved points Vincent!
