Buckler made cars of all sorts of shapes - could be one of his, but probably not.

I'm afraid it's nothing at all to do with Buckler, no.

I have around 20 possible solutions for this car according to my database.
Without wishing to through them one-by-one I'll try to establish a few more facts before I make another guess as to the make.
I think it has been establish as British and Ford-engined.
Is it a one-off?

It is a one-off, yes.
Its engine has been established but not what chassis it sits one.
It is certainly British.
I can't find any mention of the car on the Internet, which does make it more difficult!

This looks like the DLM Special, built by Derek Lawrence Masters on an Austin Seven chassis and with a sidevalve Ford engine. Registered 1 UHX.

....But you said there was no Austin parts in the puzzle car??  ???

It is indeed a Derek Lawrence Masters creation, yes!
But it has a (sort of) name?
According to my information it's not based on an Austin Seven chassis - as far as I know there are indeed no Austin parts in the car.  The engine is correct though.
So I'll lock it for you until your next reply to come up with the base I have (assuming I am correct of course - if you can prove I'm not then I would accept your answer!)
Also I need the date?

This is the sum total of info I have on the car. I believe MJW guessed the correct year on page 1?

Well you do seem to have found the right car barrett - well done!
Its name is even there as the caption to the photo you posted - the DLM 1!
I don't know for sure what chassis it's on, but my info said it was Standard 9.  I see there is a mention of Standard relating to the front axle, so maybe someone got the wrong end of the stick somewhere, but who I have no idea.
I don't think we'll get any further with this one so 1 point is yours and consider it solved!

Well I never

I never knew that my toy had so much interest.

The car is registered as a DLM 1, and yes those are the initials of the maker.
Derek Lawrence Masters.
And that is all I have ever known about Mr Masters

I bought the car in 1970.

To save time and space I am posting a link to a website with my write up of the car.
http://www.oldclassiccar.co.uk/forum/phpbb/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=7815

Tech. details
Chassis, modified, 1935 Standard 9
Front axle, hubs and drums are also S9
Front brakes Ford 105e Anglia (1957)
Engine and gearbox Ford E93a
Rear axle was changed from a Morris(1930's) to a Ford 100e
Aluminum body.
Everything else, Wheels, fuel tank, Radiator, drive shaft, suspension all one off

This is a typical 1950's one off special

As it is now
Taken last year

Ah so there we have the truth!
It's NOT on an Austin 7 chassis!
Thanks for that interesting info.
