Who can tell me something about this car - what it's based on, when it was made, what engine is fitted and when it was fitted, what's its chassis number?
All this for 1 point!

Twin cam engine,

Yes it does have a twin-cam engine; when was that fitted? (not 1965..)
And the chassis number?

Still locked for you.

MGA 1600 LHD, from the Jul-Aug 1960 production run Modified in 1965.
Twin cam engine,
The twin cam engine is the only twin cam item in the car, all the rest is Basic 1600.
The car ID number (VIN ?) 146251 does not match any standard MGA chassis number.
Chassis No. GHDL94457, is an MGA 1600 LHD Coupe Jul-Aug 1960 production.
The body mods were carried out in 1965
The twin cam engine was fitted during the restoration (rescued from a scrap yard) in 1994.
The 1600 tail light also removed.
5-speed Celica gearbox
Rear disc brakes from a Ford Sierra
The original wire wheels are changed to the spline drive Minilite style.

You found it!
Well done.
Yes, the general view at least on one respected MGA website is that this car is worth less than a run of the mill MGA Twin Cam, as it's not specially desirable and deviates too far from the norm.  So Euro 48000 is somewhat optimistic to say the least!

Here are some more pictures of it anyway, at various stages of its life:
