Solved - MJW #622 - RRA Special 1957
« on: October 05, 2011, 11:52:03 AM »
Now this car has been a puzzle here in the past - but, not in this form.
Therefore I'll ask admins to merge it when it's solved.

What was it called, who built it and when will earn you one point for the complete and correct answer.

You are partially correct.
The puzzle car was based on an Aston Martin single seater.
However the car had been rebuilt and renamed when the photo was taken.
Locked for you to come up with the full details.

That's a shame as you were on the road to solving it.

I should know this one but the "little grey cells" have gone to sleep (ior is it an age thing?).  Did it have a Jaguar engine?

I can't be absolutely certain but I believe it was fitted with a 3.4 litre Jaguar engine when photographed in 1957.
The name was --- Special if that helps.

The Experts were quite close to solving this one.
Perhaps a Pro can finish it off?

It's an RRA Special, isn't it?

Yes it's the RRA Special seen with Geoff Richardson (the builder) at the wheel.
This is the car before it became a sports racing car.

Perhaps this can be merged with my puzzle MJW #380 that featured the car in its later guise.
