A version of Science and Mechanics magazine's Wild Hare named the Wild Goat.  It was built by the Goodrich High School (Fond du Lac, WI) auto shop class circa 1962 led by teacher Lynn Topliss.

I guess a female teacher named 'Topliss' would have had a few problems...

And with a name like 'Lynn' guess he got a few problems anyway!
Lynn is of course a common girl's name, but those Americans seem to like giving their boys girls' names (Carroll Shelby anyone?  Wasn't John Wayne's real name 'Marion'?  Didn't Glenn Campbell - or was it Johnny Cash? - sing about a 'Boy Named Sue'?!)

I thought it might be Welsh; I found this tidbit:

Lynn \l(y)-nn\ as a boy's name (also used as girl's name Lynn), is a variant of Linn (Old English).

The popularity of the name Lynn (for males) peaked in the US in the early 1940's.

Well researched Otto!

Thinking about it the girl's name used to be spelt Lynne, so it must have been the male version of it.  However, think nowadays the girl's name is generally spelt Lynn and any boy Christened with that name would be in for an exceedingly hard time at school...!
