The beautiful Monica, 3rd prototype, the first built by Vignale with design by Tony Rascanu. Circa 1969/1970.

Yes.  Actually I understood it was the first proper working road-going prototype.
The front doesn't look quite as good as the rear:

Actually Carnut cmetisse is correct, this is the Rascanu designed third prototype. the car in the photo above is prototype #2 as seen here http://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/index.php?topic=6244.0

Here is an original styling sketch by Rascanu for this car. I was under the impression that this was actually built by Chapron in France, not Vignale, but I may be mistaken

You may be sad to learn that Chris Lawrence (the key engineer behind the Monoca project, plus various Le Mans Morgans, Deep Sandersons, etc.) passed away last weekend.
A car is for life, not just for Christmas.

That's very sad news indeed Djetset. He was a fascinating man who maintained a passionate interest in all his previous projects, and was instrumental in returning many of his old cars to the road (or track) where they belong.

Sad news indeed. He was a brilliant engineer/innovator/entrepreneur and sadly one of a breed that is disappearing year by year.

The picture of the front of the Monica prototype belongs to prototype 2. Prototype #3 does have a different nose, more like the (pre-)production ones!!
