Another nice red car; what is it, by whom and from when - for 1 point?

Google Image Search continues to raise its ugly head on AutoPuzzles.
For the sake of our newer members who may not be aware of past discussions on it, Google Image Search as a means of solving puzzles is banned on this website.

AutoPuzzles is primarily a game of automotive knowledge, not of who can copy and paste the quickest.

Have fun!

It looks rather like a Ferrari, so is it a Ford Ten based Special with a proprietary body?

The roofline reminds me of an old Alfa Romeo Giuletta / Giulia, but the nose says 'Ferrari' all over it ....

Is it maybe some sort of home-made car by somebody?

No, it's not a home-build but I suspect it's been a bit tinkered with since it was built..

I was just re-reading all the info from my source and I've changed my mind about my above reply!

Although it actually purports to be something else it is really a home-built bitsa...

Karmann Ghia,BMW bits and not by Pinin ....

It is, yes, and it does have all sorts of bits in it, although you haven't actually mentioned what it's mainly made of..

Lancia Aurelia B50 prototype 1951 Pininfarina ?

It apparently has Lancia Aurelia B50 mechanicals, yes, but it definitely isn't by Pininfarina (despite it wearing PF badges on its flanks)!

Have another search and see what you can both come up with!

According to that source, the wheelbase seems too short for a B50.

And I think it's a Facel Simca transformed.

Maybe SACO can tell us more.

It's a 1951 Simca 9 Facel Coupe from the front wings back, yes!
It also, as you say, has Karmann-Ghia bits and has BMW steering and a Ferrari 250MM grille...
Can't trace that is has any Lancia bits either, even though it wears Lancia badges and purports to be a Pininfarina Lancia Aurelia B50 prototype as SACO said...

First one to tell me what powers it gets the point!

A Fiat 130 engine.

And it's a well-earned point for you!
I'm surprised Pininfarina haven't asked for their badges back...!
