Urney Special Racer (USR) ,built by Dermot O'Clery for his brother-in-law Redmond Gallagher of Urney Chocolates ,Dublin , Ireland. Based on the ex- Charlie Manders Bugatti Type 35a ,chassis no 4818 ,it was powered by a 3.6 litre Ford flathead V8 & clothed in ERA style bodywork. It had a reputation as being difficult to handle ,but was successful at various hillclimbs in '36 & '38. It was bought by William McQuillan & renamed the McQuillan Special ,it finished 3rd in the Limerick "round the houses" Grand Prix in '38.
In '51 Irwin Catherwood won the Sexton Trophy with it & finished 2nd to Stirling Moss in the Wakefield Trophy at the Curragh. Ivan Dutton built a type 35B from part of the chassis in the '80s.
