Looks as if it should be a 10 h.p. Railton, but not with the usual d.h.c. body
Opinionated but sometimes wrong

Yes, it's a Railton but with a coachbuilt body.
Any ideas on the builder?

Neither Carbodies or Coachcraft.
This coachbuilder was active in the immediate post WWII period up to c.1950 and this I believe was the only Railton they bodied.

The Railton has a hint of Freestone & Webb's work about it, so could it be one of theirs?

Not Freestone & Webb - much less-known and dare I say, lower quality.

Hmmm, lower quality hey?!  That probably rules out Lancefield then?

University Coachwork?
Not that although I would equate University was on a similar level.
The company was known by two names (not x & x)

Ah, therefore it must be Whittingham & Mitchel from Staines in Middlesex.

1950 Airflow Streamline?
Yes!
Airflow Streamlines Ltd., Northampton built this one in 1950.
I believe it was the last Railton to be constructed.
Airflow Streamlines were better known for producing bodies on Invicta chassis - perhaps the quality wasn't so bad after all?
