I have seen it described as an Aston-Jaguar and as an Aston Martin - Jaguar but know nothing about the car.

In that case and following the clues, I wonder if it is the RRA special in a different incarnation?

Well done -it is an Aston-Jaguar!
Hidden under the RGS body is Aston Martin DB3/6 in one of its many disguises!
Another point for you.

Another car that appeared in different forms but as you see it's not the RRA Special.

Here is the unaltered photo of the car showing its registration number of the time.

You may also remember it as RPH 778 and NV 64 the subject of Allemano's #341.
This is not the full story and I may reveal all its mysteries in the near future.

I've a feeling the full story is somewhere on AP already!

The car in its road-going special form was a Classic and Sports Car mystery car a few months back.   I wrote them an answer that included just about every last detail of the car in its various guises apart from the name of the guy who fitted the windscreen's grandmother, but I still didn't win the Balvenie..

Since they don't actually publish the letter written by the winner I have no idea what he added in the unlikely event he added anything; I think C&SC are just fed up with me winning their Balvenie...!

Ah, the Balvenie......!
I didn't realise that the full story might have been on AP before.
It's certainly an interesting story as are the tales of other DB3s in their various guises.
