Yes it's a Dornier Delta but not like the original one.

It is the mark II type, but not with the soft top and hinged front window. Thats the Mehari-fun type. It also lacks the plastic-veneer body panels from the woody urban man-with-suit version.This one has corrugated panels. It is maybe the urban van- type from 1969...

Yes is the Mk II version.
I have it as 1972 but the point is yours.
I wonder if anyone has a better photograph?

I've never seen once. But the story behind it is mythic. In the end it is one of the second-wave of 'Kleinautos' from the late sixties that were meant to fill in urban mobility. (First wave is the austere fifties where there was simply no money nor enough raw materials to provide luxury as a car for everybody). With the third wave –the tax-free small cars in France, the Smart and the small Toyota and PSA siblings it finally comes to tuition -with a little help of reducing emissions and using less gas...

The correct name for this one is Dornier Delta 2e. It is from 1972. Although the puzzle picture is very blurry, it seems that there are no vents for engine cooling between the headlights. So it shouldn't be the Renault-engined Delta II SR from 1973, but the electric engined 2e.
